Yes, its pretty tough. It weighs just over a kilo, and the wall thickness is 3-4mm. It feels quite heavy in the hand, and it feels rigid and strong to the touch. However, a sharp corner, or spike would easily crack and break it - so it should be considered FRAGILE!.

40cm Diameter 'Spherical' lamp shade (h 35cm).
This is a real PVC Beach Ball that has been treated so as to have a 'rock hard' polyurethane inner, and yet remains 'untouched' on the outside. So the outer surface is the PVC finish of a Beach Ball, it displays all the joints between the sections and even the 'blowhole' remains visible.
Each piece is hand made. The cut is edged with an industrial section. The inner surface is smooth, with a white spray finish. This lamp shade fits to an existing pendant fitting. A compact fluorescent lamp should be used.
